VR game developers can keep 90% of revenue on new titles thanks to a new initiative from HTC Vive.

”FACTS”

At the Global Developers Conference (GDC 2024), HTC Vive will cut its revenue share to just 10% for all new VR games and apps added to the Viveport app store starting April 1, 2024. That’s one-third the previous developer fees.

Any titles added on or after March 1, 2024 will also qualify for a fee reduction. That means developers of recent PC VR and Vive XR Elite standalone games and apps will get to keep 90% of sales revenue.

For more details about how to submit titles for this program, visit Viveport’s developer submission website. You can find the link below.

”CONTEXT”

Viveport is HTC’s VR app store. It includes apps you can run on your Windows PC and apps for the Vive XR Elite headset.

HTC Vive is always innovating in VR. The Viveport app store also hosts the popular PC VR game subscription service Viveport Infinity, providing access to over a thousand titles for as low as $9 per month.

While HTC manufacturers several VR headsets, including the Vive XR Elite, Vive Pro 2, and more, Viveport also supports most PC VR headsets. Meta’s Quest 3, Quest 2, and Quest Pro can be used with Viveport for PC VR via the Viveport desktop app.
