The Meta Quest 3 can be enhanced with optional accessories. Learn how to make the Quest 3 more powerful and comfortable in this accessory-guide.

At this year’s Meta Connect, the Meta Quest 3 was once again presented in detail. When the VR headset is released on October 10, 2023, you will be able to enhance it with a whole range of optional accessories – from different head mounts to a charging station.

How can I make Meta Quest 3 more comfortable?

The Meta Quest 3 is much more compact than its predecessor and should be more comfortable to wear. However, you can still customize the current generation Quest with optional accessories to ensure the best fit for your VR headset and controllers.

Official Meta Quest 3 Elite Strap

As with the predecessor Quest 2, Meta again offers an Elite Strap for the Quest 3. By turning the wheel on the back, it should be able to adjust to most head sizes.

The strap on the top takes pressure off the face and distributes the weight of the VR headset evenly.

Official Meta Quest 3 Silicon Facial Interface

If you use Meta Quest 3 for VR fitness or other motion-intensive VR games, take a look at the silicone inserts.

They’re quick and easy to clean and protect the lenses from light, so you always get the best image.

Note: The Elite Strap is also available with an integrated auxiliary battery.

Official Meta Quest 3 Facial Interface & Head Strap

For the first time, Meta is offering a more affordable alternative to its own Elite Strap for Quest 3. The Facial Interface with Head Strap is made of breathable padding and keeps out piercing light.

The headstrap is adjustable and available in “Elemental Blue” and “Blood Orange.”

Official Meta Quest 3 Active Straps for Touch Plus Controller

Also important to VR athletes is the security of the controllers. The Quest 3’s Touch Plus controllers are attached with wrist straps, which are not very stable.

The Active Straps are designed to provide more support by wrapping the adjustable straps around the back of your hand. This way, you can open your hand without losing the controller and have more stability while playing.

How can I improve the performance of Meta Quest 3?

Meta Quest 3 is charged via a simple USB cable. However, like its predecessor, the battery life will be little more than two hours when fully charged.

To improve performance, there are optional battery packs, batteries for controllers, charging stations, but also subscription lenses or connection cables to the PC, for example, to access content from SteamVR.

To ensure that Meta Quest 3 is always ready for use, Meta offers an official charging dock. It charges both the VR headset and the Touch Plus Controllers. The appropriate lithium-ion batteries for the controllers are also included.

By the way: Headset and controllers also fit into the charging dock if you have attached the Elite Strap (with or without battery) and the Active Straps to it.

The Elite Strap is also available for Quest 3 with an additional battery pack. According to the manufacturer, the battery life of the mobile VR headset can be extended by up to two hours.

Official Meta Quest Link cable

When connecting the Meta Quest 3 to your computer to stream PC VR content from SteamVR to your mobile VR headset, you have two options: You can either use wireless streaming via Air Link or connect the Quest 3 via a link cable, which in many cases will result in a more stable connection.

Note: There is no new link cable for the Quest 3, so if you already have a working cable for the Quest 2, you will most likely be able to use it with the Quest 3.

Meta Quest Touch Pro Controller

First introduced with the Quest Pro, Touch Pro Controllers have some special, exclusive features. Most notably, they have the ability to track themselves, providing greater precision and stability. For differences from the included Touch Plus Controllers, see the linked article.

Good sound can really enhance the VR experience. The Quest 3 has built-in speakers again, but you can definitely get more out of the VR headset with a good pair of headphones.

Razer’s officially licensed Bluetooth in-ear headphones won’t be released until later this year. The gaming accessory manufacturer has already released its HyperSpeed Ear Buds for Xbox consoles in the past. The price and performance should be similar to the upcoming Quest version.

Insertable subscription lenses

There is plenty of room for eyeglasses underneath the Meta Quest 3, but it will be more comfortable with custom subscription lenses.

Zenni offers official lenses for the Quest 3, developed in collaboration with Meta.

Another option is subscription lenses from German manufacturer VR Optician, which will be available in mid/late October.

What transport and storage boxes are available for Meta Quest 3?
